Abstract
Recent case-law of the Court of Justice of the EU relating to the Zambrano line of cases and the Family Reunification Directive show a strong engagement by the Court with fundamental rights. This article places recent developments in broader context and questions whether there has been a turn towards fundamental rights in the Court ’ s family reunifi cation jurisprudence, or just a swerve.
