Abstract
Introduction In this bridging document I want to reflect on the origins of this project and how it has progressed over the last six years. I also want to reflect on how the completion of two different forms, a novel, and a thesis, alongside each other influenced the process and how as completed outputs they dialogue with each other. I also want to provide some background to the central character in the novel and the sociocultural milieu which he inhabits. Finally, I want to offer some concluding thoughts on the project.
