Proceedings of the Education Conference 1976

The Education Conference that took place in University College Galway in April 1976 was an attempt to meet a need that had become increasingly clear to those engaged in educational research in Ireland. Although conferences were held regularly on specific themes there was no general forum where researchers could regularly meet, nor was there any easy way of making recent research findings more widely known. In Ireland, as in other countries, valuable reports were not penetrating beyond the educational institutions where they had been written and they were often unknown, except by accident, even to Irish Educationalists.
